A man will face court over a number of break and enter offences in the state’s north-west. In November 2024, officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation following reports of multiple break and enter offences in Bingara, Warialda and Glen Innes areas. Initial inquiries established a number of solar panels, motor controllers and metal products were stolen from several locations since Tuesday 19 November 2024. A total of 1,904 lambs and sheep were penned in today's prime lamb and sheep sale. The usual buying group attended to a strong yarding of quality new season suckers, heavy export lambs and well conditioned sheep. Well covered new season cross-bred Suckers sold between $240-$200. Dorper Suckers fetched between $220-$146. Forward store conditioned suckers ranged for $171-$210. The heavy to medium cross-bred trade lambs fetched between $222-$175. The game got underway at the scheduled start of 5:00 but was shortened to a 16 over match in anticipation of bad light at the end of the day because of overcast conditions. Glen Innes' own Nancy Elaine Williams sadly passed away on the 16 November 2024. Nancy was born on 18 October 1934 and raised at the family property "Taylorville", Blair Hill, Glencoe. In 1945 the family moved into 44 Church St, Glen Innes where they remained for the next 50 years. From the age of 15 Nancy was a well-known and respected staff member of Fayle's Pharmacy, and played singles tennis as well. Child Poverty Costs New England and North West Economy $2 Billion Annually

Child poverty is costing the New England and North West region more than $2 billion annually, according to a report commissioned by the NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS). The report, titled Lasting Impacts: The Economic Costs of Child Poverty in NSW, calculates for the first time the financial toll of failing to invest in children’s wellbeing. In the New England and North West area, approximately 22 per cent of children live in poverty, with the economic impact estimated at $10,500 per person.
