Beardy Waters Dam will welcome experts from WaterNSW on 6 November as part of a collaboration with Glen Innes Severn Council aimed at enhancing the monitoring and safety of local dam infrastructure. Glen Innes Local Returns Home From Lawn Bowls Comp In Triumph

Glen Innes’s own champion lawn bowler, Paul Jopson, has returned in triumph from the Australian National Titles held in Tweed Heads from 11-15th October. As a member of the New South Wales team, he came away with a second in the men’s competition and with best performed state (men and women combined). Paul stated that it was a “totally awesome team event”, and he’s looking forward to the 2025 National Titles to be held in Tasmania. Mr Jopson is a self taught bowler who has been bowling since 2000. Glen Innes Airport To Close Temporarily For Works

The Glen Innes Airport will be temporarily closed from 4 November 2024 until 31 January 2025, to allow for essential upgrades and improvements. The works will include: Runway rehabilitation on the main bitumen runway New and upgraded lighting on the main bitumen runway Improved drainage and reshaping of the main runway to enhance water run-off management Council advises that it is working closely with NSW Health, NSW Ambulance, and NSW Police to ensure aeromedical services and emergency operations continue uninterrupted. Should the works be completed ahead of schedule, the airport will reopen earlier.

Regional Australia Bank Proposes Merger With Summerland

Regional Australia Bank and Summerland Bank have announced their intention to merge. Summerland operates as a Mutual Bank and has ten branches across the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales and South East Queensland. Regional Australia Bank has told its members via its website that there will be no change of name away from "Regional Australia Bank" and that there will be no changes to accounts or fees. They have also assured members that there will be no branch closures. Should the merger be successful, it will not come into effect until 2026.

Wentworth Street Bridge Works Completed

The Wentworth Street bridge has re-opened to traffic after the completion of works. The section of road over the Rocky Ponds Creek has been closed since early March in order for Glen Innes Severn Council to replace the bridge. Council has expressed its thanks to the community and motorists for their patience.
