Glen Innes is celebrating local legend Jan Lemon receiving an Order of Australia Medal in the King’s Birthday Honours List this month. Jan’s commitment to her community is widely known, but we wanted to find out more, so Glen Innes News invited Jan to have a chat with us about her background and achievements and what makes this passionate communitarian tick. Australia Day 2025 in Pinkett and Glen Innes

On Australia Day a free breakfast was held at the Pinkett Hall where over 150 people attended. Later in the morning the Glen Innes & District Services Club hosted a free morning tea followed by the presentation of awards to local citizens and organisations who have made significant contributions to our local community. A citizenship ceremony was also held where two new Australian Citizens were welcomed by the local community. All attendees were also invited to make an Australian citizenship pledge. Australia Day 2025

The local Australia Day festivities begin this year with a free breakfast being served at Pinkett Hall from 8am, followed by free morning tea at Glen Innes & District Services Club in Glen Innes from 10:30am. After morning tea, the morning at the Services Club continues with official ceremonies and award presentations from 11:30am. There are a number of awards being presented on the day.
