PUBLIC SCHOOL CHOIRS HIT ALL THE RIGHT NOTES

The Glen Innes Public School’s senior choir and small choral group both brought home First Place trophies from the annual Tenterfield Eisteddfod in the first week of September. The eisteddfod was held in the Tenterfield School of Arts Theatre under the watchful eyes, and ears, of London-trained adjudicator, Melissa Buchholz. Ms Buchholz teaches woodwind, piano, double bass and singing, and her students have won countless awards and scholarships (and toured and performed) all over Europe. Local Hero: Nikki Lee Wins National AFL Volunteer Award

Nikki Lee has achieved the honour of being named the inaugural National AFL Superkick Volunteer of the Year, following her earlier recognition as the AFL NSW/ACT NAB AFL Superkick Volunteer of the Year. On Wednesday 26th March, the Glen Innes Public School AFL team competed in the Paul Kelly Cup in Inverell against teams from Inverell Public School and Newling Public School. Elena Weatherall is the CEO of the Glen Innes Local Aboriginal Land Council, a role she took on 11 months ago. Local Area Land Councils [LALC] are part of the network of the NSW Aboriginal Land Council. Its purpose is to acquire land through claim or purchase, establish commercial enterprises to support a sustainable economic base for Aboriginal communities and to maintain and enhance Aboriginal culture and heritage. Kindy 2025: A New Chapter Begins

Thursday 6th February 2025 was a momentous day for dozens of small children across the district, as they entered the world of big school for the first time with its promise of greater learning and lifelong friendships. With local schools ranging significantly in size, some children made up 50% of their two student Kindergarten class, while others in bigger schools joined one of two Kindergarten classes.
