Local farmers will have the opportunity to hear the latest industry updates at the upcoming Farmer Update, to be held at TAFE NSW Glen Innes on Wednesday, 27 August 2024, from 6pm to 9pm. The evening will feature presentations on a range of topics, including a Beef and Sheep Market Report from Meat & Livestock Australia, and an overview of new animal welfare management plan requirements from Integrity Systems. A community event will be held in Emmaville later this month for the official unveiling of Roobot, a metal kangaroo sculpture created by Queensland artist Mick Brown. The unveiling by Mayor Margot Davis will take place at 10:00am on Saturday, 30 August 2025, at Emmaville RSL Park. A free sausage sizzle, provided by Taronga Mines, will follow the event. A mobile health service aiming to “save local lives” will be visiting Glen Innes later this month, offering free health checks to the local community. The Rotary Men’s Health Education Rural Van (mherv), a project operated by the Rotary Club of Warners Bay in collaboration with local Rotary clubs and community organisations, will be stationed in Glen Innes on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August 2025. A well-known Glen Innes landmark, known locally as “The Convent”, has been sold with an unconditional exchange of contracts. Principal of the selling agency Raine & Horne Rural Glen Innes, Nellie Hayes, said the sale met expectations under good conditions. The property attracted strong interest during the campaign, with more than 220 enquiries and 17 offers received. Although the final price has not been disclosed, the property was marketed with a price guide of $1.5 million. A commemorative service was held on Monday at ANZAC Park in Glen Innes to mark Vietnam Veterans’ Day. Representatives from several organisations attended and laid wreaths in honour of those who served, including the RSL, Legacy, and Glen Innes Severn Council. Fatal Crash on Shannon Vale Road

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state’s New England region this morning. About 9.20am (Monday 18 August 2025), emergency services were called to Shannon Vale Road, Bald Nob – about 26km east of Glen Innes – following reports a vehicle had crashed. The male driver of the vehicle was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified. Officers attached to New England Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Plans for a major upgrade of the ANZAC Park playground are moving ahead, with the project set to transform the existing play area into a nature-themed, inclusive, and engaging space for children of all ages. Consultation on the ANZAC Nature Play Park has now concluded, with Glen Innes Severn Council thanking residents for their input into the project.
