Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Closes Gwydir Highway

A man has died in a two-vehicle crash on the Gwydir Highway near Glen Innes.. About 12.30pm today (Saturday 9 August 2025), emergency services were called to the Gwydir Highway, Swan Vale, about 30km west of Glen Innes, following reports of a crash. Officers attached to New England Police District attended and found a Ford Ranger utility collided head-on with a B-double combination semi-trailer. Glen Innes was blanketed in snow over the weekend with significant snowfall occurring in parts of the Northern Tablelands.
