Trivia Night to Raise Funds for Year 12 Formal and Beyond Blue

Glen Innes Services Club will play host to a fun-filled evening of trivia on Saturday 2 August, with a special event planned to raise funds for the Year 12 2025 Formal. The event, which kicks off at 6pm, will also support mental health organisation Beyond Blue. Community members are invited to form tables of eight for the trivia night, which will also feature an auction, raffle, and a whole lot of fun. Glen Innes High School students have impressed at the recent Science and Engineering Challenge regional event in Inverell, placing first on the day and securing second place in the Northern zone—a region that spans from north of Newcastle to the Queensland and South Australian borders. Students from Glen Innes High School’s Year 12 cohort added a splash of creativity and community spirit to this year’s Athletics Carnival by taking part in a light-hearted “Box Car Race” to raise funds for Beyond Blue and for the school formal. In a significant step towards promoting student health, sustainability, and community engagement, Glen Innes High School has installed three new Hydrobank water stations. This initiative replaces the original water bubblers—installed over 30 years ago in 1990 as a School Representative Council (SRC) project—with modern hydration units that reflect current health and environmental standards. The new Hydrobank stations offer both drinking fountains and bottle refill points, ensuring students, staff, and community members have hygienic and convenient access to water throughout the day. Elena Weatherall is the CEO of the Glen Innes Local Aboriginal Land Council, a role she took on 11 months ago. Local Area Land Councils [LALC] are part of the network of the NSW Aboriginal Land Council. On Australia Day a free breakfast was held at the Pinkett Hall where over 150 people attended. Later in the morning the Glen Innes & District Services Club hosted a free morning tea followed by the presentation of awards to local citizens and organisations who have made significant contributions to our local community. The local Australia Day festivities begin this year with a free breakfast being served at Pinkett Hall from 8am, followed by free morning tea at Glen Innes & District Services Club in Glen Innes from 10:30am.
