On Monday, 10th November, Glen Innes High School held its annual Remembrance Day Ceremony to honour the service and sacrifice of Australian men and women who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. We were privileged to have representatives from the Glen Innes RSL Sub-Branch, including Gail Turnbull, James Tattersall, Rod Gair and Victor Tracey, join us for the occasion. Their presence provided a meaningful connection between our students and the wider community as we paused to reflect on the significance of this national day of remembrance. Our student leaders led the ceremony with dignity and respect, including the reading of…
Most people are well aware of Prime Minister Albanese's recent long awaited meeting with President Trump in the White House. However, they might not be aware that apart from the Prime Minister and Ambassador Kevin Rudd, the only cabinet ministers present were Madeleine King, Minister for Resources and former Glen Innes resident and High School student, Senator Tim Ayres, Minister for Industry and Innovation and Minister for Science. Holding two cabinet portfolios, Tim Ayres is regarded as one of the Government's most capable ministers and is a close political ally of the Prime Minister. Tim Ayres was seated next to Kevin…
Under a cool November sky, a large and solemn gathering assembled at Anzac Park on Tuesday, 11 November, to commemorate Remembrance Day 2025. Ex-servicemen and women, students, cadets, dignitaries, and local residents gathered together in quiet reflection, united in honour of those who have served — and those who continue to serve — in defence of our nation. Red poppies adorned lapels, and the gleam of polished medals caught the morning light, each one a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and enduring remembrance. The service commenced with an opening prayer by Rev. David Robinson, followed by moving poems read by students…

The Glen Innes High School Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) works to bring staff, students, parents, and the wider community into close collaboration. Our purpose is to assist in providing facilities and equipment, while also promoting the recreation and welfare of students at our local public high school. Over the past three years, the GIHS P&C has proudly partnered with the school and local community groups — including the Glen Innes Men’s Shed and Glen Innes Junior Cricket — with the generous support of the White Rock Community Fund and Cricket Australia. Together, these collaborations have led to significant upgrades to the GIHS cricket nets and the Performance Arts Centre,…
