The Vegetable Creek MPS Emmaville Hospital Auxiliary has officially unveiled a new access ramp at “The Cottage” building, marking the completion of a three-year fundraising effort that raised $25,000 for the local health facility. The new ramp, officially opened on Tuesday 5 August, will allow patients of Vegetable Creek Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) to more easily access the building and enjoy recreational activities away from the standard hospital environment. A man has died in a two-vehicle crash on the Gwydir Highway near Glen Innes.. About 12.30pm today (Saturday 9 August 2025), emergency services were called to the Gwydir Highway, Swan Vale, about 30km west of Glen Innes, following reports of a crash.
