Now that the make up of our Council has been finalised, there is one issue that should be central in minds of Councillors. The most significant issue that they, and their admin staff, will have to deal with over the next few years and decades is the impact of climate change. Many Councils, including our own, have already had to deal with those impacts in recent years as a result of catastrophic events such as floods and fires of unprecedented severity. I urge them to turn their minds to how they can lead the Council to support local community members…

So...where do the golfers come into the story? Simple! Golfers, shearers and others involved in the shearing industry will take to the Glen Innes Golf Club on Saturday December 14 to not only take up a challenge but also to raise funds for sHedway in a 3- person Ambrose event. The event is being supported not only by the Golf Club but also businesses such as New England Toyota, Velquip and Virbac, Grafton Firearms, Harvey…
The New England Heritage Traction Club supports the preservation, restoration and enjoyment of heritage machinery, including tractors, trucks, motorcycles and the like. It holds monthly meetings at the meeting room of the Land of the Beardies Museum and also organises regular outings of interest for members. On Sunday, on one such outing, the group visited what could only be called a “tractor museum” out on the Inverell Road. It was an amazing experience. Chris and Betty Walker and Jamie Wiggins are all enthusiasts and hold a large collection of vintage tractors on their property. There must be close to fifty…
Glen Innes is set to welcome a new off-leash dog park at Lions Park, with the project moving ahead after a community consultation period. Glen Innes Severn Council held the consultation from 7 August to 4 September, receiving 23 submissions from residents, reflecting strong local interest and engagement in the park’s development. Following a review of feedback, the Council confirmed that Lions Park, with its established infrastructure and central location, was selected as the ideal site. The park’s existing amenities, such as restrooms, picnic areas, and drinking fountains, make it convenient and accessible for residents and visitors alike. Its proximity…

Mr David Scott has been named as the successful final candidate in the Glen Innes Severn Council election. Also participating in the count back election was Anne Vosper who was ultimately unsuccessful. Elena Wetherall did not apply to be considered for the count back election. Newly declared councillor…
