You might remember that back in December last year, our community was preparing the second ever Shearers’ Ambrose Charity Golf Day. The weather turned out to be sensational after a few rainy days. 28 teams involving 83 players took to the course and hit some impressive shots amongst enjoying icy cold beverages and juicy steak sandwiches, proudly and expertly prepared by our local Lions volunteers. Ladies Golf 16 ladies played a stableford event on Wednesday. Winner was Julie Newsome with 40 points, backing up her win in the Par event the previous week. The local organizing committee has been loud with its praise for the golfers, prize donors and the Glen Innes community for their efforts which recently raised more than $10,000, with $8,000 presented at the Glen Innes Show to sHedway representatives for further work in applying the sHedway mental health program.
