Council To Convene Community Safety Roundtable

The Glen Innes Severn Council has announced plans to host a roundtable meeting to discuss strategies for improving public safety. The meeting will bring together key stakeholders, including the Glen Innes Business Chamber, sponsors of a recent petition from the business community, and local police representatives. On Monday 2nd December, 19 female year 8 and 9 students embarked on a day trip to Inverell to investigate trade jobs for women. We were warmly welcomed by 4 different businesses: Boss Engineering, Bindaree Beef, High Style Furniture and Sapphire Nutrition. The tours through the businesses were amazing and the girls were able to meet female workers and ask questions.  The team leaders and managers in all businesses were extremely encouraging of the girls working in trades and talked about not being able to hire enough females in their businesses.
