Double Demerits Now In Place For Driving Offences

Police will be out in force targeting dangerous driving this holiday period as part of the state’s end of year road operation designed to keep people safe on our roads during the busy festive season. Operation Christmas/New Year 2024 commenced at 12.01am today (Friday 20 December 2024) and conclude at 11.59pm on Wednesday 1 January 2025. Double demerit points will apply for the duration of the operation for speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt, and motorcycle helmet offences. The Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) has announced that Rural Fit, an allied health organisation dedicated to improving the health outcomes of rural communities, has been selected as the operator for the Glen Innes Health Hub, a "Better Health for the Bush" initiative. The Health Hub will operate from the former Westpac Bank building at 293 Grey Street, Glen Innes and is expected to open early-mid 2025. Glen Innes has a number of fitness programs designed especially for seniors. Rural Fit has now been running its early intervention healthy aging exercise program in Glen Innes for 18 months. Tailored to the needs of those over 60, the exercise sessions take place every Wednesday morning at the Glen Innes Indoor Sports Centre on West Avenue.
