Deepwater Expo to Showcase Community and Volunteer Groups

The Deepwater School of Arts Hall is hosting a Community & Volunteer Expo on Saturday May 10 to raise awareness of the village’s many not-for-profit groups and other organisations. Most of Deepwater’s groups will have members available throughout the day to provide information and answer questions about their group. The expo will also feature a display of work by the Deepwater Sewing & Quilting Group, and a free sausage sizzle provided by the Deepwater Progress Association. Glen Innes Severn Council will consult the community on a proposed special rate variation (SRV) that could see rates increase by up to 68.5 per cent over three years, as part of its effort to address long-term financial sustainability. At its Ordinary Meeting held in April, councillors endorsed a number of strategies and plans under the Shaping Tomorrow Community Engagement Program.
